Are you a cat lover who can’t get enough cat in your life?  Do you wish you could spend more time with cats but can’t adopt now?  Or do you just want to help out the homeless cats in our community?  Becoming a Tiny Lions Lounge & Adoption Center Volunteer could be for you.

For adults (Ages 18+)

Volunteering here will have you helping our cats in their daily care and providing excellent customer service to our visitors.  Volunteer opportunities at our café consist of Café Cat Care which is a variety of tasks that help our cats stay happy, healthy, and comfortable while waiting for their purrfect home.  As a café care volunteer you will help with tasks such as feeding, dishes, laundry, and sweeping/mopping.  After volunteering at least 10 hours, you will then have the opportunity to do an additional training to help in our Café Receptionist role, which is welcoming guests to the café, checking online reservations, and assisting guests with questions or completing café purchases.  In addition we have opportunities to assist with special events at the café throughout the year.  When you help, you'll enjoy the bright, clean space, the company of over a dozen cats, and the satisfaction you’ve helped needy animals in your community.

Volunteering at Tiny Lions has a one-time, non-refundable program fee of $45, which includes your volunteer T-shirt and nametag, training and educational opportunities, and access to our online resource library. This fee helps offset the costs of supplies and allows us to direct more money toward the care of our animals. If the fee is a financial strain, please do not worry; We still want you to join our team! Simply call (734) 661-3517 or email volunteers@hshv.org to discuss having the fee waived.

For Youth ages 12-17

If you’re an animal lover between the ages of 12-17, we’d love for you to join our Junior Volunteers (JV) team! This program is held at our main shelter (310 Cherry Hill Road) and after completion will provide opportunities to volunteer at Tiny Lions as well!

Through this program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about animal welfare, work with shelter animals and form new friendships with others your age. Each session consists of humane education activities, mentoring and training by humane education staff and volunteers, and hands-on volunteer time to give back to the homeless animals in our care.  Though this program is so much more than volunteering, registered youth who join our JV team will receive volunteer hours for their work, which can be used towards required community service hours. Once the six training classes are complete, JV’s can volunteer at the shelter independently on a variety of days and times and will have opportunities to begin volunteering at Tiny Lions.
